The blockbuster Dhurandhar 1,released on December 5, 2025 in Hindi only, the movie was not dubbed for any other languages officially. But Dhurandhar 2 Telugu states advance booking reveals something that created wow factor for the South Indians. Dhurandhar 1 became highest grossing indian movie domestically and the box office hit 1056 crores across India making it one of the biggest hits in the history. After the massive success of Dhurandhar Part 1, the distributors urged the makers to release dubbed in different languages as they observed something extra ordinary in the numbers. Dhurandhar 2 will be releasing on March 19 and this time it will be in five languages including Hindi, Telegu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam. The five language decision was not a launch strategy, it was a response to the numbers the team did not expect during part 1 and we are gonna dig deep into the whole story here.
What the Dhurandhar 2 Telugu States Advance Booking Numbers Actually Say
The sacnilk, a leading entertanment data company in India has confirmed 19.01 crore income in paid preview gross as of March 18 (at the time of writing this article), it also confirmed 356,817 tickets across 8371 shows. For the blocked seats, Stree 2 held the record of 8.75 crores, but Dhurandhar 2 smashed that number and eared 24.2 crore for previews alone indicating the craze of this franchise for the audience. Initially this is about to be a spy thriller movie only by the makers but the huge success in the audience and numbers says it all. However, Hindi version of the film is primary at 18.51 crore with average ticket price of 414 Rupees. But the Telegu and Tamil versions contibutiong significantly to the overall statistics. Leading news platform, Republic World confirmed 20% and 16% for Tamil Nadu and Karnataka respectively and14% and 11% for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for paid previews, surprisingly Telangana alone resulted in around 1.2 crore in the first day of advance booking at the time of reporting. BookMyShow previously had booked 1.3 crore woth of total tickets for Dhurandhar 1 which was their highest ticket sales for a single movie ever, and this time there is another chance of breaking that again as Dhurandhar 2 already was marked as interest for more than half a million users. Advance booking worldwide has crossed now almost 50 crores and has already taken place in the top five advance booking movie, surpassing and making the Animal movie to slip at number six. The Week has mentioned that there has been never been more hype seen for a hindi movie in telegu states and the numbers from both part of the Dhurandhar movie is actually talking.
How South India Broke Down the Language Wall Before Bollywood Even Tried
Dhuranadar 1, which was initially planned just as a North Indian Spy Thriller but there is something actually far more interesting we got investigating the numbers. The different regions of India like Bengaluru had 49.25%, Chennai 37.25%, Hyderabad 28.75% occupancy for the Dhurandhar 1, that too without having a single dubbed frame, this also created a great motivation for the makers to give them something for the part 2. The makers strongly believes the response from southern states was far more stronger than expected and without the dubbed version audiences turned up in large numbers by strong word or mouth, social media buzz and repeat viewing. Besides, the SOuth India distributors also urged for the Telegu dubbed version and Allu Sirish (Brother of Allu Arjun), publicly admitted that it was a huge missed opportunity as the underestimated the love for this movie of the South Indians. Moreover, recently Bollywood is seeing a shift of Hindi audiences towards Tamil,Telegu movies being unbaised unlike before and also non Hindi people including Malayalam Kannada and Tamil are open to Hindi films now that’s inspiring the makers to produce even more high quality content consistently. Bollywood Hungama‘s analysis shows that South has been working on building India audiences for a long time and now it is time for the reverse as South or non Hindi Indians are also getting interested in Hindi films breaking the language barrier. Chhaava was dubbed only in Telegu after audience demand but a month after the original release, so by the time the dubbed version was released the momentum was already gone but in the case of Dhurandhar we can see both times they act on data even before release.
Dhurandhar 2 Faces Its Only Real Problem in Telegu States
Another Telegu Superstar Pawan Kalyan’s movie Ustaad Bhagat Singh is set to release on March 19 alongside Dhurandhar 2 which are direct competitors. Single screen exhibitors in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are more into booking the Ustaad Bhagat Singh movie ticket giving priority to the local market factors and most single screens exhibitors are also giving priority to the Pawan Kalyan’s film according to the reports. While Dhurandhar 2 makers demanding two shows per day for the whole week across centers which is a standard condition for Hindi Blockbusters but in Telegu its struggling a bit as the local start power is more dominant in some places. This may cause a bit low number but at the same time the multiplex are all booked even after the expanded screening. So, we will see may be Dhurandhar 2 winning in the multiplex race while loosing the grip over the single screen war in Telegu states. Besides, for the US premier the Dhurandhar 2 is also receiving huge response compared to Ustaad Bhagat Singh, though the split in Telegu states can also be a small issue for Dhurandhar 2 as in the long run Telegu states skews urban and multiplex by nature.
